It operates at 13.56 MHz and is intended for compatible contactless cards and tags, including ISO\/IEC 14443 Type A \/ MIFARE products.<\/p>\n<h4>\ud83d\udd27 Listed and chip-reference specifications<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>Reader IC: NXP MFRC522<\/li>\n<li>RF operating frequency: 13.56 MHz<\/li>\n<li>Host connection listed for this module: SPI<\/li>\n<li>MFRC522 SPI interface: up to 10 Mbit\/s<\/li>\n<li>MFRC522 IC supply: 2.5\u20133.3 V nominal (check the exact board and its documentation)<\/li>\n<li>Listed module supply: 3.3 V DC<\/li>\n<li>Listed board dimensions: 66 \u00d7 40 \u00d7 8 mm; confirm against the supplied board revision<\/li>\n<li>Listed reading distance: up to 60 mm; actual range depends on the antenna, tag, tuning, alignment and surroundings. NXP specifies typical read\/write distance up to 50 mm depending on antenna size and tuning.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The French listing states compatibility with several MIFARE card families and says a card and key-fob tag are included. Supplied accessories and supported tag types can vary; verify the labels and contents of the delivered set.<\/p>\n<h4>\u2699\ufe0f How it works<\/h4>\n<p>The reader creates a 13.56 MHz field and exchanges data with a compatible nearby tag. The host microcontroller sends commands and receives responses over SPI. The module can be used in identification and access-control prototypes, but reading a public tag UID alone is not strong authentication and should not be used as the sole protection for a real door or valuable asset.<\/p>\n<h4>\ud83d\udd0c Connection and voltage caution<\/h4>\n<p>Use 3.3 V supply and logic unless the specific breakout documentation confirms otherwise. Do not assume its pins tolerate 5 V because it can be connected to an Arduino. Check the pin labels and your controller\u2019s SPI pin mapping before wiring.
