Description
TXS0108E 8-Channel Bidirectional Logic Level Converter
This module is based on the TXS0108E, an 8-bit bidirectional voltage translator with automatic direction sensing. It is intended to interface compatible logic signals between separate voltage domains. It does not translate arbitrary voltages: select the supply rails and signals within the chip and module limits.
Listing details
- Device: TXS0108E
- Channels: 8 bidirectional logic channels
- Module dimensions: approximately 21 × 15 mm
- For a 3.3V-to-5V setup: connect VCCA to 3.3V and VCCB to 5V, as listed
- Connect the grounds of both systems together
- A-side 3.3V logic signals are translated to the B-side voltage, and B-side signals are translated to the A-side voltage when supplies and signals are within specification
- No separate direction-control signal is required for supported use
The listing cautions that this device can be sensitive to some I²C pull-up arrangements. TI documents TXS0108E for open-drain and push-pull applications, including I²C, but circuit topology, external pull-ups, bus capacitance and data rate matter. Follow the device datasheet and verify the module circuit before using it on an I²C bus.
Basic connections
- VCCA: lower-voltage logic supply (for example, 3.3V when translating between 3.3V and 5V)
- VCCB: higher-voltage logic supply (for example, 5V in that setup)
- GND: connect to the common ground of both systems
- A1–A8 / B1–B8: connect corresponding signals on the two voltage domains
- OE: observe the module pinout and datasheet requirements; do not leave enable behavior to assumption
