Typical uses

Personnel attendance, badge registration, visitor or member identification, authorized access workflows, loyalty systems, and classroom or demonstration projects.

How to use

  1. Connect the reader to a USB port.
  2. Open the application where you want the ID entered, such as a text editor or spreadsheet.
  3. Place the cursor in the intended field.
  4. Present a compatible 125kHz EM4100 or TK4100 badge.
  5. After the beep, the ID is entered at the cursor as keyboard input.
  6. Save the identifier in your database if needed.

For a list of badges, place the cursor on a new line or spreadsheet cell before each scan. Because the reader behaves like a keyboard, make sure the correct application and field are focused before presenting a badge.

Compatibility and limitations

  • Does not read 13.56MHz cards.
  • Other 125kHz protocols are not necessarily compatible.
  • EM4100 and TK4100 badges are generally read-only.
  • The reader outputs an identifier; it does not program cards.
  • Use access badges only with authorization and follow applicable system policies.
