Description

XL4005 5 A CC/CV Step-Down Converter with Voltmeter and Ammeter

This XL4005 step-down power supply has an adjustable output-voltage control (potentiometer 1) and an adjustable output-current limit (potentiometer 2). Its voltmeter and ammeter measure output voltage and current in real time. The source states that it can provide 3.5 A / 50 W and, with an added heatsink, up to 5 A / 75 W. It also describes use as a battery charger. The blue LED is described as indicating charging, while the adjacent red LED is described as indicating a charged battery. These indicators are not a dependable standalone charge-termination method; use a charger and charging profile appropriate to the battery chemistry, supervise charging, and verify completion independently.

Example stated by the source: For a lithium battery described as 3.7 V nominal and 4.2 V maximum, the source sets output to 4.2 V. For a 2,000 mAh battery, it gives 1 A as 0.5C and describes a factory-set LED threshold of 0.1 × charging current (100 mA at 1 A). It says the current falls as the battery approaches charge and the red LED turns on below 100 mA. Treat this as the source’s description, not proof that the battery is safely or fully charged. Confirm cell chemistry, cell count, voltage limits and the required charging method; do not charge unattended.

The source lists these applications: constant-current supply for high-power LEDs; charging lithium, nickel-metal hydride and nickel-cadmium batteries; battery voltages of 4 V, 6 V, 12 V, 14 V and 24 V; solar panels and wind turbines. These are application examples, not confirmation that one setting suits every battery or system.
