Description
XL4016 300 W 8 A CC/CV Step-Down Converter
This XL4016 step-down power supply has separate potentiometers for adjusting output voltage (potentiometer 1) and limiting output current (potentiometer 2). It has two heatsinks. The source states a maximum output of approximately 300 W and 8 A. Actual usable power depends on input and output voltage, current, cooling and operating conditions. The source also describes battery-charging use and says the red LED indicates charging while the green LED indicates a charged battery; the green LED may also light when no load is connected. Do not use these indicators as a standalone charge-termination method. Use a charger profile appropriate to the battery chemistry and cell count, supervise charging and verify completion independently.
Battery example stated by the source: It describes a 12 V lithium battery with a maximum voltage of 14.4 V and sets the output to 14.4 V, with charging current set to 2 A. The source describes a factory LED threshold of 0.1 × charging current (200 mA at 2 A), but its following formula says “0.1 × 1 A = 200 mA,” which is arithmetically inconsistent (0.1 × 1 A is 100 mA). Treat the LED description as unverified source information, not proof of safe or complete charging. Confirm the correct charging voltage and method for the exact battery; do not charge unattended.
The source lists these applications: constant-current supply for high-power LEDs; high-power/current applications; charging lithium, nickel-metal hydride, nickel-cadmium and lead-acid batteries; batteries rated 4 V, 6 V, 12 V, 14 V and 24 V; solar panels and wind turbines. These are examples, not confirmation that one setting or this module alone is suitable for every battery chemistry or system.
