Description
NTC 10K Thermistor Temperature Sensor
This NTC thermistor probe measures temperature through changes in resistance. NTC means Negative Temperature Coefficient: resistance decreases as temperature rises.
Specifications
- Resistance at 25 °C: 10 kΩ ±1%
- Material constant (B value): 3950 ±1%
- Operating temperature range: −50 °C to +300 °C (as stated in the source listing; confirm the probe’s actual rating)
- Thermal response time: ≤20 seconds in air
- Dissipation factor: approximately 7.5 mW/K in air
- Stability: high stability and durability (as stated in the listing)
Specification note: the source title and resistance specification say 10 kΩ, while the source description mentions “10K/100K” and its keywords include “NTC 100K.” This translation retains 10 kΩ from the listed specification; please verify the product value.
How it works
As the thermistor warms, its resistance falls. A voltage-divider circuit converts that resistance change into a voltage that a microcontroller or measurement system can read.
Applications
- Household appliances, such as refrigerators, freezers, cookers and fryers
- Industrial and telecommunications systems: process control, heating and ventilation, fire alarms and battery thermal management
- Automotive temperature monitoring and electronic systems
Using it with Arduino Uno
Basic Arduino example
const int sensorPin = A0; // Broche où le NTC est connecté
float temperature;
void setup() {
Serial.begin(9600);
}
void loop() {
int sensorValue = analogRead(sensorPin);
// Calcul de la résistance avec résistance de référence 10kΩ
float resistance = (1023.0 / sensorValue - 1.0) * 10000.0; // Changé de 100000.0 à 10000.0
// Conversion en température avec les bonnes valeurs pour NTC 10K
// Note: 3950.0 est le coefficient B de la thermistance - à ajuster selon votre modèle
temperature = 1.0 / (log(resistance / 10000.0) / 3950.0 + 1.0 / 298.15) - 273.15;
Serial.print("Temperature: ");
Serial.print(temperature);
Serial.println(" C");
delay(1000);
}
How the example works
- Reads the thermistor voltage on analog input
A0and starts serial communication at 9600 baud. - Calculates resistance using the 10 kΩ divider shown in the source code, then applies the Steinhart–Hart equation to estimate temperature in Celsius.
- Prints the calculated temperature and waits one second before the next reading.
Notes from the source example
- Verify the thermistor’s B value; the example uses 3950.
298.15is the reference temperature in kelvin (25 °C).- The calculation assumes a voltage divider using a 10 kΩ fixed resistor.
