Description
TEC1-12710 85 W Thermoelectric Peltier Cooler
The TEC1-12710 is a solid-state thermoelectric module. When DC current passes through it, heat is transferred from one face to the other. It is used in applications that need compact, controlled cooling.
Specifications
- Operating voltage: 12 V DC (can operate up to 15.4 V according to the listing)
- Current: up to 10 A
- Power: 85 W typical, up to 92 W maximum
- Dimensions: 40 × 40 × 3.4 mm
- Maximum temperature difference (ΔTmax): up to 60 °C
- Maximum operating temperature: 138 °C
- Lifetime: 200,000 hours (as stated in the source listing)
- Construction: 127 thermoelectric couples
How it works
Applying current creates a temperature difference between the two faces. The hot side must transfer heat to a heatsink; otherwise the module cannot cool effectively and may be damaged.
Installation and use
- Heatsink: attach the hot face to a heatsink with a fan. Use thermal paste and ensure good contact.
- Electrical connection: connect the red wire to positive 12 V DC and the black wire to ground.
- Temperature control: use a temperature controller to regulate current and avoid rapid thermal cycling.
- Ventilation: provide airflow around the heatsink to improve heat dissipation.
- Protection: do not apply maximum power without a heatsink; the module may be damaged quickly.
